Plants Over 1,400 Trees Around the Campus
Naroda, Ahmedabad, July 31, 2010:
Demonstrating their commitment to sustainability and the “Progress is Greener with Ingersoll Rand" message, the Industrial Technologies team in Naroda, recently planted more than 1,400 saplings as part of a massive “greening” drive in the city of Ahmedabad. (Ingersoll Rand’s campus and plant are located Naroda, which is an industrial zone in Ahmedabad).
Over 240 employees from Ingersoll Rand Naroda participated in this initiative jointly with the Naroda Industrial Association (NIA), the GCCI (Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industries) – youth wing and the Rotary school. Saplings were provided by the state government of Gujarat to all participants.
Sandeep Gupta, Kunjal Trivedi, Bharat Devda and Garima Sharma coordinated this massive drive on behalf of Ingersoll Rand along with the volunteers from NIA, GCCI and the Rotary school children to make the city’s greening drive a great success.
As a result of all the participating organizations' efforts, a whopping 917,000 trees were planted in Ahmedabad on a single day, with more than 34,500 saplings planted in the Naroda Industrial Area.
Talking about the greening drive, Jaideep Wadhwa, vice president and general manager, Industrial Technologies, said, “Our participation with other stakeholders in the city’s tree plantation drive demonstrates our seriousness and commitment to sustainability. This event is another significant positive step in our environmental stewardship at Ingersoll Rand, where every single day is dedicated to green, energy-efficient practices."
